Koper-Capodistria is situated on the coast of the Adriatic Sea in the Golf of Trieste. The city is officially bilingual, with both Slovene and Italian as official languages but it is not rare to hear also Croatian. This is particulary due to the complex history : assigned to Italy after World War I, at the end of World War II it was part of the Zone B of the Free Territory of Trieste, controlled by Yugoslavia. A big part of the Italian inhabitants left the city by 1954, when the Free Territory of Trieste formally ceased to exist and Zone B became part of communist Yugoslavia. Since 1991, Koper-Capodistria belongs to the State of Slovenia and is the only port of the country. It is a great place of exchange specially between Italia, Slovenia and Croatia.

The first projection of the itinerant event "Border Speaking" will take place here on the Carpaccio Square, just 20 meters away from the Adriatic Sea, in the place called "Taverna". 

Taverna is a former salt storehouse which was allready standing here in the 17th century. In the beginning of the 20th century the saltpan activity started to sank and the large salt storehouses became unnecessary. The Taverna was reshaped and intended to the fishmonger's shop, shops, warehouses, lodging houses and other. The exterior of the building did not feel any changes. In the year 2004 the Municipality began with the radical renovation of the Taverna.

Today this is the scene for a multi-purpose centre used for the organisation of various events, entertainments and festivities.
